Our Testing Process

Every app in our rankings is tested hands-on by our team. For each platform we create real accounts, build custom companions, hold extended conversations over multiple sessions, test voice and image features, and go through the full signup and billing flow. We revisit each app monthly to catch feature changes, price updates and quality shifts, and we adjust scores accordingly.

The Five Scoring Criteria

  1. Chat quality (30%). Coherence, emotional awareness, personality consistency and — critically — memory: does the companion remember what you told her yesterday, last week, last month?
  2. Image generation (20%). Detail, lighting, style range and character consistency across generations.
  3. Voice (15%). Naturalness, emotional range and response latency.
  4. Customization (15%). How deeply you can shape appearance, personality and relationship dynamic.
  5. Value & trust (20%). Pricing fairness, free tier generosity, billing transparency, privacy practices and account deletion options.

Weighted scores produce the 1–10 rating you see on each review. Category badges (like "Best Voice Experience") go to apps that lead a specific criterion, even when they don't top the overall list.

Editorial Independence

Commissions never buy placement. Our scores come from testing, and we rank apps we don't partner with when they earn it. If a partner platform declines in quality, its score drops — it has happened before and will happen again. We also clearly mark every outbound partner link with sponsored link attributes.
